Iowa man busted with over 60 grams of meth near Waverly

WAVERLY – An Iowa man was busted with over 60 grams of meth near Waverly.

​On May 30, 2021 at about 11:23 AM, a deputy with the Bremer County Sheriff’s Office observed a red Chevrolet Cavalier with license plates registered to a gray Dodge Intrepid traveling on Highway 63. The deputy performed a traffic stop on the vehicle near Highway 63 on Highway 3. The driver was identified as Nathan M Williams, age 33, of Independence, Iowa. It was discovered Williams’ driver’s license status was Barred for Habitual Offender, Revoked for OWI Test Refusal and Suspended for Habitual Violator and Non-Payment of Iowa Fines. Williams was taken into custody on these charges.

​The Bremer County Sheriff’s Office K9, Mo, gave a positive indication to the presence of illegal narcotic odor coming from within the vehicle. Search of the interior of the vehicle resulted in locating 60.69 grams of Methamphetamine, multiple plastic baggies, a digital scale and a glass smoking pipe.

​Williams was transported to the Bremer County Jail where he was charged with Intent to Deliver More Than 5g but Less Than 5kg of Methamphetamine, a Class B Felony, Failure to Affix Drug Tax Stamp, a Class D Felony, Driving While License Barred, an Aggravated Misdemeanor, Driving While License Revoked, a Serious Misdemeanor, Driving While License Suspended, a Serious Misdemeanor, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a Simple Misdemeanor, Fraudulent Use of Registration, a Simple Misdemeanor and Failure to Provide Proof of Financial Liability, a Simple Misdemeanor. Williams’ bond was set at $100,000.
