Weapons seized after incident at Spencer school

SPENCER, IOWA – Weapons were seized after an incident at a school in Spencer, Iowa, police say.

The incident took place on May 10th, 2021. At approximately 6:00 PM that evening, the Spencer Police Department responded to an incident at the Spencer High School parking lot. When officers arrived, it was reported that a pickup truck drove through the parking lot at a high rate of speed, and was confronted by a citizen in the lot. The vehicle then left the parking lot after displaying what appeared to be firearms from the vehicle. Shortly after the incident, law enforcement located the vehicle and identified 3 individuals, who were not affiliated with the Spencer School District, in reference to this incident.

Officers were able to determine that the weapons in question were air soft guns and a BB gun, and are currently in police custody.

This investigation is ongoing.
