NIACC lands 7 players on all-region softball teams

MASON CITY – NIACC freshman Laken Lienhard was selected to the all-NJCAA Region XI first-team as a utility player on Thursday.

NIACC’s Hailey Worman was a second-team selection as a catcher.

Also five Lady Trojans earned honorable mention all-region honors. Macy Alexander (catcher), Kayla Sproul (pitcher), Anna Lensing (infield), Riley Nelson (pitcher) and Kennadi Colbert (outfield) were NIACC’s honorable mention selections.

It is the third straight season that NIACC has placed at least one player on the all-region first team. The Lady Trojans had one first-team selection in 2018 and landed four on the first-team in 2019.

Lienhard hit .436 with 14 home runs, 12 doubles, 30 RBIs and 23 stolen bases. The 14 home runs ranks third on NIACC’s all-time single-season list.

Lienhard, who was 8-15 as a pitcher, had a 3.39 earned run average in 142 1/3 innings pitched. She struck out 156 batters, which ranks third on the school’s single-season strikeout list.

Worman hit .368 with 12 home runs, six doubles, a team-leading 40 RBIs and 20 stolen bases. The 12 home runs ranks fourth on the school’s all-time single-season list.

Alexander had four home runs with 20 RBIs.

Sproul was 3-13 with a 5.39 ERA with 43 strikeouts in 102 2/3 innings pitched.

Lensing hit .259 with six home runs, six doubles and 24 RBIs.

Nelson had four doubles and 10 RBIs and Colbert had one home run, four doubles and nine RBIs.

I heard some members of mc cross country track teams qualified for state – anyone know their names /what event ?
