MASON CITY – Police are saying two men were shot in Mason City this past weekend.
At approximately 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 10th officers responded West Park at 1st and North Jackson on a report of gunshots being fired. When officers arrived there was an unoccupied car in the area that had crashed into a utility pole and no one was located in the area of the park.
At about the same time officers arrived at the park one victim arrived at Mercy One North Iowa with a gunshot wound. About 20 minutes after the original report of shots fired a second gunshot victim arrived at the emergency room with a gunshot wound.
Also during the investigation a second vehicle was located near the intersection of 6th and North Federal with several holes from gunfire. It’s believed that vehicle had been driven to that location from West Park and abandoned.
The shooting victims were both males and in their early 20’s. One has been released from the hospital and the other is still recovering at the hospital.
