Mason City murder suspect nabbed in Algona

MASON CITY – A man wanted for murder in Mason City was nabbed by cops in Algona.

At approximately 4 PM Monday, Benjamin Gonzalez was taken into custody in Algona on a Mason City Police Department arrest warrant for Murder in the First Degree, a class A Felony. The warrant charges Gonzalez with murder in the death of Michael Creviston, age 36, of Mason City, on March 31, 2021.

The Mason City Police Department was assisted in this investigation by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, the Algona Police Department, the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, the Kossuth County Attorney’s Office, the Clear Lake Police Department, the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office, and the Iowa State Patrol.

Gonzalez, age 37, is currently being held on $1 million cash bond at the Cerro Gordo County Jail, pending further court proceedings. Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the Mason City Police Department at 641-421-3636.

Gulf of mexico? Benja lived in mason long as I’ve ever known. Any one stop to think creviston may have not been that great of a human if he was associated with the type of ppl that gangland assassinate other ppl? Pretty sure everyone is ignoring a meth habit or something… you dont just get shot by tweakers for no reas ok n, black ppl commit senseless murder all the time but I think that Benja may have had a reason. Not saying it’s a good reason or anything. Just that you cant get shot by tweakers if you avoid tweakers.
