DES MOINES – Iowa’s top election official, Paul Pate, is telling California Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi to butt out of Mariannette Miller-Meeks’ election “victory” over Rita Hart, an election contested by only 6 votes with at 22 votes not yet counted.
Today, Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate said that he sent a letter to U.S Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi asking her to “respect Iowa’s bipartisan election and recount processes, State of Iowa law, and the official state certification of Mariannette Miller-Meeks’ election as U.S. House representative for Iowa’s Second Congressional District.”
Rita Hart continues to pursue a new outcome in the razor-close November 2020 election in Iowa’s Second District seat for Congress. In a recent email, the Hart campaign said, “Rita Hart is currently in a contested election in Iowa’s 2nd district, with just 6 votes separating her from her opponent at the last tally. She needs all hands on deck to get across the finish line.”
Nancy Pelosi and other Democratic leadership are rumored to be contemplating ousting Mariannette Miller-Meeks in favor of Hart if the 22 uncounted votes are counted and Hart overtakes Miller-Meeks.
