SPIRIT LAKE, IOWA – Police in Spirit Lake nabbed a couple in possession of large amounts of illegal marijuana substances.
On Friday, March 19th, 2021, at approximately 10:15 pm, an officer with the Spirit Lake Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado near the intersection of 35th Street and Sunner Avenue. This vehicle was occupied by 24-year-old Holden Wilson of Spirit Lake, Iowa, and 23-year-old Savannah Heithus of Milford, Iowa. Wilson was arrested on an outstanding parole revocation warrant out of Clay County.
Upon further investigation, a controlled substance was also located in the vehicle. With this discovery, officers did obtain and execute a search warrant on the vehicle which revealed large amounts of a wax substance believed to contain THC (a chemical component in marijuana). Also located in the vehicle was marijuana and items of drug paraphernalia. Both Wilson and Heithus were arrested and booked into the Dickinson County Jail.
Wilson was charged with: Possession of Controlled Substance with Intent to distribute to wit: THC Wax (C Felony), Possession of Controlled Substance with Intent to distribute to wit: Marijuana (D Felony), Possession of Controlled Substance 3rd or subsequent (D Felony), two counts of Failure to Affix Drug Tax Stamp (D Felony), Prohibited Acts (aggravated misdemeanor), Interference With Official Acts (Simple Misdemeanor), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Simple Misdemeanor), Driving while Suspended, Operating a non-registered vehicle, Failure to provide proof of insurance.
Heithus was charged with: Possession of Controlled Substance with Intent to distribute/conspire to deliver to wit: (C Felony), Possession of Controlled Substance with Intent to distribute/conspire to deliver to wit: marijuana, two counts of failure to affix drug tax stamp (D Felony), Possession of Controlled Substance to wit: marijuana 1st, Open container of alcohol as a passenger.
