College Wrestling: Former Fort Dodge Wrestler Brody Teske named Big 12 Wrestler of the Week

IRVING, Texas – Sophomore UNI wrestler Brody Teske was named the Big 12 Wrestler of the Week after going 2-0 on the weekend with both wins coming over ranked opponents.

He opened the weekend with a 12-10 sudden victory over Missouri’s Connor Brown (No. 24). Brown took an early lead, but Teske scrapped hard throughout and earned a takedown with under 10 seconds left in the third period to force sudden-victory. Early in the overtime period, Brown attempted a single-leg, but a scramble ensued and with just 15 seconds left in SV1, he executed a Granby roll and cleared his head to earn the takedown and the 12-10 win.

In extra bouts, he faced Iowa State’s Alex Mackall (No. 7). Mackall led 3-1 at the end of the second, but Teske earned an escape to cut the deficit to 3-2, Teske stayed aggressive and forced Mackall into a stall call to tie the bout at 3-3. He earned another stall call with 10 seconds left and a takedown with just two seconds left to earn the 6-4 win.

The win moves Teske to 4-0 on the year and 3-0 in dual bouts. Three of his wins come against wrestlers that were ranked at some point in the season.

The Panthers open the home schedule this weekend with a dual against Oklahoma, Sunday at 3 p.m. at the McLeod Center. Iowa State will wrestle Oklahoma at 1 p.m.
