Snitch turns in downtown Mason City urinator

MASON CITY – “Don’t be afraid of snitchin'” … these immortal words live on and remain a hallowed creed in Mason City as a man was caught wet-handed after a well-intentioned snitch told police someone was urinating in the beloved downtown area.

Mason City police tell NIT the incident took place on the afternoon of December 19, 2020. At 1:06 PM that day, a snitch (or, as police described, “a local resident”) called police to complain that a man was urinating in the 10 block of 4th Street NW. Officers arrived and located a suspect, 52-year-old Steven Morris Lippstock.

“He was identified as the offender and was cited for the violation,” a police spokesman told NIT. “He was provided with a court date in order to make his initial appearance on the charge.”

The so-called stigma of snitching on wrongdoers was a stigma no more, when back in 2012, the Mayor of Mason City pleaded with citizens, “Don’t be afraid of snitchin’.”  You can keep Mason City urine-free and much more by calling police when you see something funky going down.  Their number is 641-421-3636.
