UNI Volleyball signs Osage’s Danielle Johnson

CEDAR FALLS – UNI volleyball program has signed its third member of the 2021 recruiting class in Osage High School’s Danielle Johnson.

“We are excited to add Dani to our 2021 recruiting class,” said head coach Bobbi Petersen. “Dani is a multi-sport athlete that has competed at a high level on both her high school and club teams and has great passion for the Panthers. Her versatility will add depth to our pin position as she is capable of contributing both on the left and right. Offensively, Dani has a range of shots while still capable of hitting a heavy ball. She is a strong block presence at the net as a blocker and will train to contribute in the back court as well. We welcome Dani and her family to our UNI volleyball family.”

Johnson led the Osage Green Devils to 4 consecutive state tournament appearances under head coach Bryan Tabbert and won the Iowa 3A state championship as a senior. Johnson earned 2nd team all-state honors as a sophomore before being named the 2A’s Player of the Year as a junior. A talented outside hitter, Johnson recorded 456 kills and a .386 hitting percentage as junior. She was named the 3A Player of the Year as a senior while also being named all-tournament team captain.

Johnson has been in the National Honor Society since 2019 and has served on the Osage High School Student Council since her freshman year. Danielle in the daughter of Russ and Amy Johnson, she has one sister, Madi.
