State of Iowa to return CARES funds for IT expenses, will continue to pursue critical upgrades

Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds

DES MOINES – Governor Reynolds has directed the Iowa Department of Management to return $21 million to Iowa’s Coronavirus Relief Fund. The funds were initially allocated for payments related to the state’s contract with Workday, a cloud-based human resources, finance, and planning system being implemented to modernize the state’s IT infrastructure. Of the allocation, $4.45 million was spent on the project.

“The COVID-19 pandemic only further highlighted the critical need for integrated IT systems that will improve operational efficiency and effectiveness for the State of Iowa,” said Gov. Reynolds. “Following multiple conversations with the Treasury Department last spring, we believed we had assurances that the upgrade to Workday qualified as an allowable expense. We would not have moved forward without those assurances.”

The Department of the Treasury’s OIG affirmed its determination that payments for Workday were not allowable expenditures under the CARES Act. While the State still maintains its position that these are allowable expenditures, it respects the decision and will return the funds by December 18.

Replacing the State’s outdated IT systems remains a critical need, and has received overwhelming bi-partisan support from the Legislature and elected officials. As such, the Workday implementation will continue as planned. The estimated costs and timelines of the project have not changed. Supplemental funding will needed to support the completion.

Iowa received a total allocation of $1.25 billion from the Coronavirus Relief Fund established by the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act. The $4.45 million spent on Workday represents just 0.36% of the total funds, while more than 96% has been allocated to programs that have provided direct relief for Iowans.

  • More than $76M to support Iowa families
  • More than $126M to support small businesses and non-profits
  • More than $110M to support Iowa farmers and producers
  • $125M to support Iowa communities
  • Nearly $112M to support Iowa health care providers
  • $490M for the Unemployment Trust Fund, creating tax relief for 40,766 employers

  • $35M for Broadband Expansion Grants
  • $127M for COVID-19 operations

The State will allocate the remaining $47.3 million by the December 30 deadline, but an extension from the federal government would allow time to use the funds to create additional programs and support other needs among Iowans.  Governor Reynolds strongly encourages Congress to work together and make additional support possible for American families, workers and businesses before the end of the year.

Bye Bye Kimmie

this shows what kimmie knows, nothing. she sat and did nothing during covid to help stop it other then putting Iowans out of work for so long and now she shows what she knows about handling money, nothing. election time is coming and its surely time to get rid of her and her croonies. wonder how much of a kickback she got from that company, and dont think she didnt.

??? It actually seems like Reynolds did more than most governors to ensure Iowans could continue to work through the pandemic. How do you stop an infectious disease? I think the best you can do is collaborate with licensed medical professionals, economic experts, child development professionals, and business owners to come up with a common sense policy that weighs risks-rewards which is exactly what Reynolds did.

I’m just glad we don’t have a fear based ‘leader’ like that Mankato State drop-out they have in minnesota. What a total dumpster fire that state is in because they base their public policy on fear and biased media sources.

And the ‘couple’ of the year that is 2020. Why it’s none other than Donald & Hillary! Drum roll please……and the most powerful badass. Who even when all thought was lost proved to have the right stuff. Courage, conviction, intelligence, and a fighting spirit that prove to be the best. Won the day single handedly. Nancy Pelosi Won! Its the closes we’ll ever have to the greatest queen ever in politics. She vexed the bitterness, proved to be right in her mastery of the game. All hundred pounds of her took the fight in decisive fashion. Grace be on to her. You did it Nancy!

Once the Republicans lose Georgia they’re finished. By summer the phony rich will be digging deep into their pockets. They’re done! Kaput! Lost! They put people lives that they’re not sworn to protect in the gutter. Money comes first followed by needless death. These people that are elected officials are the crooks! How many of them hung out at Jeffery’s places of underaged sex. Constant bailout is need for the financial sector. It never stops. That’s are living wage raise kept in limbo. Even the Queen of England has off shore bank accounts. Just as a good portion of elected officials that been in the game to long have. Mitch McConnell lies, cheats, steals the very soul of the United States Of America. So sad. He gives the Irish a bad name. Norte Dame will probably lose now because of him. Keep the luck alive, stop Mitch!

Kimmie gets caught with her hand in the cookie jar and cries “I didn’t do anything wrong!”. Nice. If it would have been a Democrat he/she would have been hanged by now.

Funny guy. Democrats don’t get in trouble for anything. Even when confessing treason on camera

Kim gets caught, “It’s not my fault. We did the right thing when we took the money. I did the right thing giving it back” It’s not her fault. Where did she learn that ploy from? Her hero in the WH? I think so. She is so in the pocket of the Trump party. She quit being a Republican long ago.

An honest woman is a good woman. A good woman blesses a nation.

A bad one, like Reynolds, is a puppet of the pervert religious right, and and a thief besides.

Typical wall street crooked practices. Money grab. As Mr. Trump leaves office he has put in place many safe guards to prevent raiding the cookie jar on a federal level. If say, the logic goes that if Hillary would have won the cookie jar would’ve gone missing. Now onto better things. `Ole Joe needs to take Georgia now. Then this rare 3 in a row will be a whopper of a win! White House, House, and Senate! THEN..we will get the money we should have been getting. Especially rural IOWA! Inflation will come and it’ll jack up everything. So, 30 day shutdown with a few fat checks and…BAM…the vaccine will be here in the spring for everybody. Won’t hurt a thing. Stop the spread. Isolate.

That money should of went to small businesses, and people out of work due to job lost because of this Covid virus NOT for It’s upgrades. I am discussed that the governor approved such a thing.

How about thinking and helping the PEOPLE of Iowa instead of machine upgrades.

Do we need a picture of the faces of Iowans who we lost or need help due to covid, so they can get relief. GEEZ! Use your common sense!
