Former Mason City Mohawk Jeff Horner named Hoopdirt.com Coach of the Week

KIRKSVILLE, MO – Former Mason City Mohawk and current Truman State basketball head coach Jeff Horner has been named Hoopdirt.com Coach of the Week.

After winning the GLVC Tournament title last season, Coach Jeff Horner’s Bulldogs picked up right where they left off in their first two games of the 2020-21 season. Truman State led by just one at halftime of their opener against Lewis on Friday, but utilized a huge second half to come away with an 86-65 victory. On Sunday, the Bulldogs then trailed UIndy by eight at the half, but fought back to win the contest 66-64. Coach Horner’s squad next travels to take on Missouri-St. Louis in a rematch of last year’s GLVC Championship on Saturday.

Horner is a former standout point guard at Mason City and the University of Iowa (2002-06). He was named Truman State head coach back in April of 2018.

I hope Jeff is healthy.

Jeff did what he had to do to succeed. Good player, good coach. Those two statements don’t always go together.
The haters on here either couldn’t match his skills on the court or had a kid who they thought had all american potential when actually he had all 3rd grade potential when he was in high school.

Neither of our kids live here. Won’t be coming back either.

Jeff is a good young man and coach. He did exactly what every other young person does if they have the chance (he got out of here)
There is very little in N Iowa to keep good young folks, sorry, but it is true

Filthy big lip beast. Send him back to shitcago where he belongs with the rest of the drug dealing apes!

is this the same guy yhay said he was “ashamed” to go to MSHS ??

Yes it is!!! In other words, he’s ashamed of his father for coaching him.

And siblings that teach for MCCSD
