Suspect arrested for murder in shooting death of Waterloo woman

WATERLOO – A suspect is in custody after a Waterloo woman was allegedly gunned down this weekend.

On Saturday, November 14, 2020 at 12:12 AM, Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Deputies heard gunshots in the area of Edison Street and Grandview Avenue, in Waterloo.   As officers arrived in the area, they located a 27-year-old female suffering from a gunshot wound inside of 723 Dawson Street, Waterloo. The victim was taken to Unity Point Hospital (Allen) where she died as the result of her injuries. The victim was identified as Jada J. Young-Mills age 27 of Waterloo.

The investigation into this matter led to the arrest of Lasondra A. Johnson age 36 for 1st Degree Murder.   Johnson is currently in the Black Hawk County Jail; bond has been set at $1 million.
