Fort Dodge bar fight investigation leads to arrest of man with multiple guns and illegal drugs

Fort Dodge police
FORT DODGE – A Fort Dodge bar fight investigation started this weekend led to the arrest of a man with multiple guns and illegal drugs in his house.

On Saturday, November 7 at approximately 1:30 A.M., information was received by the Webster County Telecommunications Center that a fight had occurred at the Brass Monkey Lounge in Fort Dodge and a subject had displayed a firearm while inside of the establishment.

When officers arrived on scene, they observed large groups of patrons leaving the area. Through their investigation they were able to identify one male suspect who left the scene prior to officers arriving. This male was located at a nearby bar and spoke with responding officers. At that time, there was not sufficient evidence to support the arrest of that individual.
The Fort Dodge Criminal Investigation Division followed up with the incident and learned that the male believed to be involved was on Federal Probation and prohibited from being in possession of a firearm.

On Friday, November 13, 2020, the Fort Dodge/Webster County Special Emergency Response Team executed a search warrant at 1528 4th Ave North in Fort Dodge. During the execution of that warrant, the suspect identified as 29‐year‐old Fort Dodge resident Tavin R. Daudinot was taken into custody without incident on the following charges:

*Possession of a Firearm by a Felon – 2 Counts (D Felony)
*Going Armed with Intent (D Felony)
*Assault While Displaying a Weapon (Aggravated Misdemeanor)

During the execution of the search warrant several firearms were recovered along with a quantity of illegal narcotics. This incident is currently under investigation and we encourage anyone with information to contact the Fort Dodge Police Department.

The Fort Dodge Police Department was assisted by the Webster County Sheriff’s Office, the Fort Dodge/Webster County Special Emergency Response Team and United States Probation for the Southern District of Iowa.
