MASON CITY – The Mason City school board will meet Monday night and a document released by the district shows a massive expansion to the High School could cost up to $25 million.
Dave Versteeg, Mason City schools superintendent, said on September 11 via Twitter, “The field house & pool project is moving along. Bidding is tentatively planned for early October & construction begins soon after.” This project has long been in the works but details have been hard to come by. The school district is not as transparent as other governmental agencies, such as City Hall. A document released by the district ahead of Monday night’s school board meeting shows the project may cost over $25 million.

In college athletics is more important that academics. This also seems to be trickling down to the high school level.
Have an outside assessment made concerning how it is built. If it can be made just as functional, but perhaps not as “pretty” as it is now designed, go with the more practical. How many churches do you see that are 75% more costwise in appearance then practicality? Money can be used for more important things than just to feed someone’s ego. I know this isn’t about churches, but I do know that pride and greed are two of the seven deadly sins.
Outrageous waste of taxpayer dollars. They will just come back and more.
In the midst of so much uncertainty they want to spend 25 million. The method of reporting unemployment across the country is deceiving. The very guidelines they use to arrive at what they say is the reality is a lie and very misleading. And now it comes out that the big banks have been cooking the books. Crooks in action. This covid crap attacks the heart. It’s lasting and recurring. And by spring you will wear a mask. Stay away from crowded places. Like a school board meeting. They are too dumb to accept change.
