IOWA CITY – The University of Iowa Athletics Department announced Tuesday it has resumed voluntary and mandatory workouts.
The department conducted 297 COVID-19 tests for the week of August 31-September 6, 2020. Twenty-one positive tests and 276 negative tests have been received. As part of the return to campus protocol, testing began May 29, 2020, and includes student-athletes, coaches and staff. A total of 197 positive tests, 2,836 negative tests and one inconclusive test have been received.
Following a positive test result, protocol established by UI Athletics and medical staff, including contact tracing procedures, is being followed to ensure the safety of all UI Athletics student-athletes and staff. This mandatory protocol also includes isolation for the individuals who test positive, and quarantine for those individuals who might have been exposed to someone with the virus.
Sports are stupid huh. They might be not necessary at this current time, but to abolish sports and just fight over money is stupid. Your an ignorant doofis. Sports help young peoples bodies to develop into something worthy of this planet. Obviously you’ve never competed at anything physical your whole life. Plus physical and mental well being go hand in hand. If all we left with is fighting over money and land then we are doomed. I agree that some sports get retarded at the professional level. And the craziness over college football is many times too much, but sports are a very important part of raising kids and having a healthy society.
Physical activity is good. Physical activity and sports are not necessarily the same thing. Sports should be at a club level and nothing than intramurals should be in the schools. We are living in an entirely different world then fifty years ago.
All sports should be cancelled in Corona times. These athletes are ignorant pieces of shit. Throwing a ball, chasing a ball and catching a ball are not important life skills, they are not important to society in any real way. NFL, NBA, NHL’s, all of it all the way down to local sch8ol8level should be completely shut down. Sports are around and pointless and I dont think I should have to risk infection because some uneducated halfwits want to watch inner city youth chase a ball. It’s stupid.
