RURAL WINNESHIEK COUNTY – A Decorah woman with no driver’s license and no proof of insurance driving with four kids in her car survived a vehicle rollover accident this weeekend.
Winneshiek County law enforcement says that the accident took place on Saturday afternoon, September 6. At 4:00 PM that day, 27-year-old Angela Martinez was driving a 2007 Chrysler van westbound on Pole Line Road in Orleans Township with four children inside when she swerved to miss an animal in the road. Martinez entered the north ditch and struck the top of a box culvert which caused the vehicle to rollover onto its top. Martinez and her four children were able to get out of the vehicle. No ambulance transport was needed, police say. Martinez was cited for no valid driver’s license and failure to provide proof of insurance.
Total property damage from the accident was $8,000.
