MASON CITY – The Bertha Stebens Charitable Trust has awarded $119,000 to 29 north Iowa recipients. The Trust is dedicated to improving the lives of the residents of Cerro Gordo county.

Its 2020 recipients are:

Best Buddies, International ($2,000); Caring Pregnancy Center ($4,000); Central Gardens of north Iowa ($4,000); Central Springs Community School district ($1,500); Charlie Brown Community Day Care Center ($2,000); City of Mason City ($4,000); Clear Lake Classical School ($8,500); Community Health Center of Fort Dodge ($2,500); Community Kitchen of north Iowa ($3,000); Elderbridge agency on Aging ($5,000); Friends of Iowa CASA & ICFCRB ($2,500); the Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa ($4,000); Habitat for Humanity International ($2,500); Health for Life ($10,000); Mason City Public Library ($2,000); NIAD Center for Human Development ($2,000); North Central Iowa AG in the Classroom ($3,000); North Iowa Area Community College Foundation ($12,500); North Iowa Community Action Organization ($10,000); North Iowa Cultural Center and Museum ($2,000); North Iowa Vocational Center ($2,000); the Northern Lights Alliance for the Homeless ($5,000); River City Sculptures on Parade ($2,500); The River City Society for Historic Preservation ($2,500); the Senior Citizens Center ($2,500); Stebens Childrens’ Theatre ($2,000); The Salvation Army ($4,000), the NIACC Scholarship Fund ($5,000), and the Youth & Shelter Services inc./Francis Lauer Youth Services ($5,000).

The Bertha Stebens Charitable Foundation was established in 1987 and is named for its benefactor, Bertha Stebens (1903-86). Its Directors are Gregory Nicholas, Scott D. Brown and Todd A. Blodgett.
