Minnesota man dies in Northern Iowa motorcycle accident

HARPER’S FERRY, IOWA – A Minnesota man died in a Northern Iowa motorcycle accident this weekend.

On July 25, 2020 at 11:38 AM, the Allamakee County Sheriff’s 911 Dispatch Center received a report of single occupant motorcycle crash on County Road X52 approximately 3 miles north of Harpers Ferry, Iowa.

Gary Lee Thomforde (age 69) of Redwing Minnesota was traveling southbound on County Road X52 and failed to negotiate a curve in the road. Thomforde was thrown from the motorcycle. Thomforde was transported to a La Crosse, Wisconsin hospital by ambulance. Thomforde died of injuries received in the crash

Assisting at the scene was the Harpers Ferry Fire and Rescue Service, Iowa Department of Natural Resources, Allamakee County Sheriff’s Office and Iowa State Patrol.

The accident is currently under investigation by the Allamakee County Sheriff’s Office.

The motorcycle being ride has known transmission lock ups and failures. Was this the cause of another accident?

If only he’d been on a LOUD PIPES SAVE LIVES HARLEY! he might have lived.
