WASHINGTON, D.C. – President Trump hid in a White House bunker Friday night as emboldended protesters tormented him from Penn Avenue, then the next day he was serenaded by the song “Macho Man” as he watched a manned rocket launch in Florida.
The New York Times broke the news, reporting that President Donald J. Trump on Friday night was whisked to a safety bunker in the White House as protesters outside on Penn Avenue and elsewhere battled Secret Service officers. That enforcement agency says that “on Friday, May 29, and into early Saturday, May 30, 2020, U.S. Secret Service Uniformed Division Officers made six arrests during demonstrations in and around Lafayette Park and along Pennsylvania Avenue near the White House. Demonstrators repeatedly attempted to knock over security barriers on Pennsylvania Avenue. No individuals crossed the White House Fence and no Secret Service protectees were ever in any danger. Some of the demonstrators were violent, assaulting Secret Service Officers and Special Agents with bricks, rocks, bottles, fireworks, and other items. Multiple Secret Service Uniformed Division Officers and Special Agents sustained injuries from this violence.”
As the mayhem swirled outside the White House, President Trump boldly tweeted, “These THUGS are dishonoring the memory of George Floyd, and I won’t let that happen … when the looting starts, the shooting starts.”
Things got worse after that, the Secret Service says. By the next day, “some demonstrators repeatedly attempted to knock over security barriers and vandalized six Secret Service vehicles. Between Friday night and Sunday morning, more than 60 Secret Service Uniformed Division Officers and Special Agents sustained multiple injuries from projectiles such as bricks, rocks, bottles, fireworks and other items. Secret Service personnel were also directly physically assaulted as they were kicked, punched, and exposed to bodily fluids. A total of 11 injured employees were transported to a local hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
No individuals crossed the White House Fence and no Secret Service protectees were ever in any danger.”
Meanwhile on Saturday, President Trump traveled to Florida to watch a successful launch at 2:22 PM central time, of a SpaceX rocket with a manned capsule named Endeavour. Reportedly, he chose the song “Macho Man” by the Village People to be played on loudspeaker when he arrived. The day before, he proclaimed, “by 2024 our astronauts will return to the lunar surface to establish a permanent presence and a launching pad to Mars. And the first woman on the Moon will be an American woman.” The spacecraft is safely docked and all astronauts are accounted for on the Space Station.
Protests continued Sunday outside the White House. The President tweeted, “LAW & ORDER” and “The Lamestream Media is doing everything within their power to foment hatred and anarchy.”
