FORT DODGE – Police in Fort Dodge are investigating a fight that led to shots being fired early Tuesday morning.

On Tuesday, May 26 at approximately 2:50 AM, the Webster County Telecommunications Center began receiving multiple calls of shots fired in the 2800 block of 10th Avenue North in Fort Dodge. Information provided at the time indicated approximately 4‐7 shots had been fired and subjects fleeing the area.

When officers arrived on scene, they spoke with a 34‐year‐old male who indicated he was involved in a physical altercation with several other individuals. As the altercation ended, the male began leaving the area. At that time another individual began firing shots in his direction before fleeing.

Officers spoke with several witnesses in the area as well as a number of individuals believed to be involved in or have direct knowledge of the incident. Investigators with the Criminal Investigations Division have continued to follow up on leads throughout the day. We encourage anyone with information on this incident to contact the Fort Dodge Police Department. There were no injuries reported.
