WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congress passed a bipartisan $8.3 billion Coronavirus emergency funding package.
The bill will allow the federal government to deliver a coordinated, comprehensive response to the Coronavirus crisis, including funding for treatment and vaccine research. A vaccine could be at least 6 months away and most likely longer, experts have said.
Efforts across the country are beginning to surface to fight off the virus before it spreads farther. Starbucks announced it will pause serving drinks in reusable containers. United and JetBlue announced cuts to flights. Health experts are begging folks to wash their hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. The State Department has implemented aggressive travel restrictions, updated travel advisories, and worked with the private sector to ensure U.S. citizens and travelers are informed and safe.
