MASON CITY – A man was shot in Mason City as police investigate a second shooting incident in two days.
On Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at around 4:45 pm, Mason City police officers responded to the area of the 400 block of North Pennsylvania Avenue for a report of shots fired. Several people and vehicles were involved. One 18-year-old male from Waverly, Iowa was shot during the altercation. His injuries were not life threatening. Law Enforcement Officers had stopped a vehicle as it was fleeing the scene and that was where victim of the gunshot wound was found. Officers called an ambulance to the scene to render aid. Mason City Fire Department staff transported the injured subject to MercyOne Medical Center North Iowa for treatment.
The Mason City Police Department was assisted by the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office, the Iowa State Patrol, the Iowa Department of Transportation/Motor Vehicle Enforcement, and the Mason City Fire Department.
The investigation into this incident is continuing. As of this time, there is no indication this incident is related to the shooting incident that was reported on February 24, 2020.
Anyone with information regarding either incident is asked to contact the Mason City Police Department.
Do they think we’re dumb, both incidents are 99% related. There was heavy police, undercover, and trooper presence in town way before the incident occurred. Police must of had a tip of retaliation. But surprisingly as many police officers etc in the area and we have yet to see any arrests??? Didn’t they stop 2 vehicles involved? No arrests… and the black suv goes free, untouched again???

Hey our state and city government had to agree to take these section 8 vouchers and the landlords too, hardy isn’t the only landlord in town responsible for destroying our community. Local landlords are the last line of defense, ignore the equal housing opportunity laws and stop renting to black people. Pretty simple. Local employers are the next line of defense, stop hiring and housing the people who are responsible for this crime. What’s so hard about that? The key word being SURVIVOR. The reparations should be to anybody that WAS a slave before the Emancipation Proclamation signed on January 1, 1863. So they, at a minimum would be 156 years old, Hell I would even pro rate it up.

I can’t tell if your saying these apartments will enhance, or are going to be an eye sore. Either way I’m unfamiliar with this “skyline” in town, especially one south of the mall which honestly as a transplant is one of the more depressing and shitty area’s in town.
Actually I just looked it up and they’re being built in the malls overflow parking lot, so their awesome “skyline views” will be of family video, a gas station and that shitty abandoned motel. Hopefully the cost of bulldozing that down is part of the 10mil riverfront development, because that is one of the biggest eyesores in town.
