LUVERNE, IOWA – A female victim was found shot in LuVerne, Iowa, and she passed away at the scene; a possible suspect is in custody, police say.
At approximately 8:40 AM Wednesday, December 4, 2019, Kossuth County Law Enforcement Center in Algona was notified of a possible shooting in LuVerne, IA. Emergency Personnel responded and found a female who had sustained a gunshot wound.
The victim passed away at the scene. At this time the victim’s name is not being released pending the notification of next of kin.
Law enforcement throughout the state of Iowa are assisting in the location of the perpetrator. At the time of this release the Iowa DCI and Kossuth County Sheriff’s office believe the perpetrator is in custody.
Law enforcement does not feel a continued threat exists. A bank was reportedly robbed in LuVerne this morning, as well.
Agencies assisting are, Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, Algona PD, Algona EMS, LuVerne FD, Mercy Air Med, Hancock, Humboldt, Winnebago County Sheriff’s offices, Iowa State Patrol, MN State Patrol, and the Iowa DCI.
