TOPEKA – The Panthers wrapped up an action-packed weekend in Kansas on Sunday. The swimmers were in Topeka for the Kansas Classic, while the divers competed in the Northwestern TYR Invitational in Evanston.
The Panthers had 19 top eight finishers on the weekend. Five relay teams placed in the A finals and seven individuals placed in the top eight.
Five Panther relays placed in the top eight. The 200 free relay placed 8th (1:35.18), the 400 medley relay placed 6th (3:45.71), the 200 medley relay placed 7th (1:43.38), the 800 free relay placed 5th (7:30.18), and the 400 free relay placed 8th (3:29.35).
Katie Taylor had the most top eight finishes with three. She placed 4th in the 200 IM (2:00.70), 3rd in the 400 IM (4:19.75), and 3rd in the 200 back (1:58.05).
Kylie Engstrom and Moriah Ross both had two top eight finishes. Engstrom finished 6th in the 500 free (4:54.70), and 5th in the 1650 (17.08.35). Ross placed 4th in the 100 breaststroke (1:03.19), and 4th in the 200 breaststroke (2:15.53).
Helena Heuberger added a 4th place finish in the 100 back (55.03) for the Panthers.
All three divers placed in the top eight in both diving events. In the 1 meter dive, Jayden Lovell took 5th (227.30), Taylor Hogan took 6th (211.75), and Anna Penning took 8th (176.90). In the 3 meter dive, Hogan took 6th (223.10), Lovell took 7th (202.05), and Penning took 8th (194.40).
As a team, the Panthers placed 5th out of seven teams in Kansas with a score of 404.5.
