Kwik Star opens to steady crowd of patrons in Mason City Thursday morning

MASON CITY – Kwik Star opened to a steady crowd of patrons in Mason City Thursday morning.

The long-awaited Kwik Star convenience store, located at 1502 South Federal Avenue, opened its doors promptly at 5 AM.  Enthusiastic workers served a strong, steady stream of patrons throughout the day. Most of the many gas pumps stayed in use, and there appeared to be a lot of car washes purchased.  Inside the store, which offers a big array of prepared hot and cold foods and grocery items, was nearly packed with shoppers. An older couple sat down at a small counter with stools to enjoy hot dogs around 6 PM.

Construction began on the store on the evening of July 8, 2019. It replaced the old Wooze’s Car Wash, which was demolished after it became an eyesore.

It’s always amazes me what excites people in Mason City.

And you read it, and comment on it.

DO NOT>>>DO NOT>>>try Kwik Star’s Glazerz donuts if you have a weight issue…they are very addictive.

Yes Way is a joke and Casey’s only survives because there was nothing else. They have been gouging the public for years.

How long will it be before they bring in the rude help? That’s what I enjoy is dealing with the surly workers asking if I have a rewards card. Why not reward all of us by keeping to prices lower and keeping friendly help.

Do you mean like Casey’s and Yes Way. KWIK Star has standards. Something the others could use.

The employees are not paid enough to keep a good attitude after being treated crappy over and over by some customers.

Great Pizza and Chicken.

opened with $2.25 gas and caseys across the street was $2.36. at 9 am every pump had a car and some were backed up 2 to 3 cars deep. caseys had no cars at pumps and yes way had 1 car. at little after 3 caseys dropped to $2.25 and quik str was $2.24 and same situation at pumps. wont be long and be saying goodbye to caseys and yesway. about time someone came to town and got the prices right. hope caseys and yesway had fun charging the over inflated prices for yrs but your time is over.

As soon as they have no competition, the prices will go up. Remember before Menards came to town, had several lumber yards. Menards came in and under sold them and had excellent quality. After competition was gone, so was the quality and great prices.

Exactly.
Saw the same thing in Hampton when they opened a Kwik Star.
Kwik Star undercut the gas prices there forcing others to do it too.
Wasn’t long and Kwik Star raised their gas prices.

How many other lumber yards in town, let you pick your lumber. I don’t know about you, but I pick out the best pieces. Built two garages with menards lumber, and they’re still standing. Ordered some lumber for a 20′ deck one time, before menards came to town, and got some 2x8s that you could use building a silo. Menards always, and don’t forget the 11% rebates:)

Used to be a couple of them, but you didn’t need to. Rarely got garbage from them. Last time I bought 2X4s from Menards I sorted a for half an hour to get 12.

$2.25 was a promotional price. One is opening in Forest CIty next week and a flyer come out saying 10 cents off a gallon next week.

Kwick Star is always competitive with their gas prices, they are always lower than fleet Farm and Murphy USA. They also have very competitive fast food that is better quality than and convenience I have ever been to.

Always room for more gas stations in Mason City.

anonymous was here several time today.

No one cares. That is what N.I.T. is all about

What, Kwik Star?

No! Anonymous posting. Are you really that dumb?
