Farming; high risk. I used to be against farm subsidies but when I took a longer look I would not go near a farm. Aside from the unknown…weather and half million dollars for implements to pick corn, tractors that are over $100,000.00 and up…then there is Trump, a loose cannon who can screw up your entire year faster than it takes you to eat lunch. More bad news.. It was discovered I had cancer in two places. Between Mayo and Mercy One I am now entering my fifth year of remission. This led me to the cancer center at our local hospital…I was astounded when I first entered the facility; it was standing room only. Now let me tell you why. From the time the egg is hatched and the chicken ends up in the meat counter at your local supermarket only six weeks go past. That bird is been pumped up with carcinogenic growth additives that accelerates the maturity. The same way with baby piglets they too are inoculated right after birth they got so many chemicals in them but the meat is pink it’s not with chickens the skin is like white parchment with healthy chicken the skin is yellow you’re eating chicken wings and chicken you’re eating pork chops you’re digesting cancer-causing chemicals and if that doesn’t get you there’s so many chemicals in the farmland that they planted corn and beans in its a wonder all your hair doesn’t fall out when you walk across the field. There is a chemical run off into the streams that kills the fish complements of Monsanto.
Whatever you do don’t eat the fish you’re already eating the chicken and the pigs leave the Fish alone and if you go fishing in that stream whether are the fish is alive or dead still full of the carcinogenic chemicals. Large factory farms are invading the Midwest these are people who have no conscious about quality of life for the farmer and the people who eat the food the farmer raises. And who is at the greatest risk the farmer himself. There needs to be legislation passed to prohibit fast growth additives and weed killing sprays that are applied to the ground. And that is why the cancer center at the local hospital is standing room only. Chris Peterson was right when he said we need to go back to the family farm otherwise we will need to build more hospitals.

While you’re pointing fingers, let’s not forget all the food processors out there from the packing houses to the canneries and the bakeries and dearest companies. Each of them has their own blend of additives containing sweeteners, sodium (by the scoop full) fats, cholesterols, and a myriad of other chemicals that affect us in negative way! Thank god we have government agencies to protect us from these things!

Next they patented glyphosate again for a new use–as an antibiotic. It turns out that glyphosate, in amounts significantly less than 1 part per million, is a broad-band antibiotic that kills the probiotic organisms in your gut that your body needs to assimilate and digest food. Monsanto applied for this patent in 2003 and received the patent in 2010, so it took 7 years to process it. Normally a patent will go through in about 3 years, so it taking 7 years means there was a lot of back and forth between the patent office and Monsanto to persuade them that the patent was good.
So here you have glyphosate, that used to be sprayed as a weed killer once at the beginning of the crop cycle, now being sprayed throughout the growing cycle on GMO crops; and on all the other non-GMO crops like oat and wheat (if they’re not organic) it’s sprayed at the very end of the grow cycle as a desiccant, or a drying agent, so crops can be dried and cheaply harvested.
It turns out that the amount of glyphosate that you get in a bowl of Cheerios, according to independent tests, is significantly more than you need to kill most of the probiotic organisms in your gut. So this is leading to a whole host of chronic diseases in Americans that simply were not around before. When I grew up no one was gluten intolerant, no one had celiac disease; doctors didn’t even know what that was. Autism was unheard of. Now liver and kidney diseases are showing up in young, previously healthy farm workers in Central America because of glyphosate exposure. There are scores of peer-reviewed scientific studies from around the world that are linking glyphosate to a wide array of cancers, a wide array of chronic diseases. Yet in this country that data is ignored. Why? Because the data that Monsanto used to persuade the FDA and the EPA that it was safe was used with pure glyphosate. In reality, in Roundup they add something called an adjuvant to it that makes it more effective, and when its combined with these adjuvants, in cellular studies from peer-reviewed scientists looking at cell cultures, they find it’s a 1,000 times more toxic when its combined with these adjuvants then in it’s pure form. And yet it was sold as being safe based on pure glyphosate. So it’s being tested for approval in one form and being used in another form that’s 1,000 times more toxic to human beings and animals.

How dangerous is Roundup?
The chemical Roundup is extremely dangerous. Let me explain why through the patents that it has emerged from.
In the 1960s it was patented by the Stauffer Chemical company as a descaler for boiler systems. So what the chemical Roundup, or more specifically the active ingredient glyphosate does, is it chelates (bonds) to metals and minerals that are stuck inside of the boiler pipes, making them easier to flush out of the pipes. 10 years later, around 1974, Monsanto figured out that same chemical that strips out the metals and minerals from pipes can do the same thing to plants, so they found a new use for glyphosate as a defoliant used to kill plants. When sprayed on plants, it strips critical minerals out of the plant that are part of basic plant enzymes necessary to keep plants alive. Farmers started spraying it before crops were planted to kill weeds. But when crops are planted, some weeds would sprout along with the crop, so you would have weeds and corn or soybeans growing at the same time, and they couldn’t spray anymore glyphosate on the crops because it would kill the crops along with the weeds.
So Monsanto developed GMOs, where they spliced in some genes that make the plants no longer need that same critical plant enzyme to live, meaning the GMO plant can be sprayed with the glyphosate and not die. So now instead of just spraying it before the crops are planted it can be sprayed 5 or 6 times during the whole crop growing cycle, killing the weeds and not the GMO corn and soy.
The next thing that they figured out was that when they’re harvesting sugar cane or wheat and grains like wheat– barley or oats–they spray the glyphosate at the end of the growing cycle on these plants, causing the plant to wither, and the grain would dry “naturally” on the stalk. Now harvesting became much cheaper because they didn’t have to worry about the grain molding, or having to store the grain in humidity-controlled structures, or any other special things to prevent molding or burning up in a grain silo.

There are places where you can buy chickens and beef and pork that were raised chemical free. Costs more but worth every penny. Not sure about grain groaning in the farm fields

This is awesome. I was recently told by a farmer all about how they do not pollute and are not responsible for fish kills or loss of habitat. Those people will say anything to justify their actions or make themselves feel better about the damage they do. Unfortunately you cant spend your life living in fear so sometimes you eat the fish from the river or lake and you go tubing even though you know you’re probably soaking up poison the entire time.
