High School Football: Mason City snags first victory in 2 years, owning Ottumwa 28-17

MASON CITY – The sweet juices of victory finally dribbled down the chins of Mason City High School football fans after the Mohawks laid a beating on the Ottumwa Bulldogs, 28-17, Friday night.

The final home game of the season produced a most savoring triumph for the hapless Mohawks on Senior Night, who went 0-9 in 2018.  The win snapped an 18-game losing streak for Mason City, which finishes the season 1-8.

Ottumwa (2-7) scored 17 points in the first quarter, but a relentless Mohawk squad stayed in the game and finally overtook the Bulldogs in the fourth quarter with two late scores, including a long interception for a touchdown.

Hope the owner of this site never wants to run for school board because this will come back to haunt him.

I believe intermural sports have outlived their usefulness in today’s world. If people think sports are so important we should concentrate on intramural sports. More students can participate at a lower cost.

MC is still a rotten fb team. 1 win in a yr is bad.

That’s one more win then you have ever received, or ever will!!!

a lot of you probably don’t know, the reason the mohawks haven’t won much and Newman wins all the time is that newman recruited the best players off the Mohawk team and they play for newman now

They went to Newman because they wanted to win once in awhile.

Actually, they went to Clear Lake!

Support your local team! Great job Mohawks! Never give up.

Great job !!!
No better time to drop the football program
