County treasurer reminds: Taxes are due by end of month

MASON CITY – Treasurer Patricia Wright reminds all taxpayers that 1st half Assessment Year 2018 real estate taxes and Assessment Year 2020 mobile home taxes are due September 30, 2019.

The Treasurer encourages all taxpayers to take advantage of the online property tax payment at www.iowatreasurers.org. This service provides opportunity to pay taxes for any property in Iowa online, through a secure website, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Payment may be made by Discover, Master Card, Visa, or eCheck (an eCheck is a method of debiting the funds electronically from your checking account).

By Iowa Code, the Treasurer must apply penalty to payments based upon the US Postal Service postmark on the face of the envelope dated October 1, 2019 or later.

When paying by mail or in person, the Treasurer recommends using the 1st half coupon attached to the statement. The taxpayer’s cancelled check will serve as receipt. Those wishing an additional receipt must enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope. Payment methods accepted in the office are cash, check, and debit card, Discover, MasterCard and Visa.

The Treasurer’s office in the courthouse is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm.
