MASON CITY – The highly-anticipated Bushel Boy tomato facility and farm will break ground in Mason City on September 11, 2019.
Bushel Boy Farms will break ground on their new Mason City facility on Wednesday, September 11, 2019, it was announced Thursday. The 50 acre facility represents a $35 million investment and is expected to bring approximately 50 full time jobs to North Iowa.
“Bushel Boy Farms is a great addition to our community,” Mason City councilman Paul Adams said Thursday. “I am thankful for all the work the EDC and City staff did to land this company in Mason City.”
Minnesota-based company Bushel Boy Farms supplies the Midwest with local, high quality fresh produce – you’ve probably already seen their products at your neighborhood HyVee. This expansion project will allow Bushel Boy the opportunity to increase production and grow their existing business partnerships, while creating jobs and positively impacting the North Iowa economy.
The groundbreaking ceremony will be held on Wednesday, September 11th at 10 AM. Parking will be available on site, east of the Alliant Energy Operations Center on 43rd St SW. For overflow parking, please use the south side of 43rd St SW.
the fact that some of you bitch about new jobs provided by a company that produces a healthy product is amazing. you like mason city the way it is? more of this type of thing is what we need. smaller business that is run well. we dont need more curries type employers around here. the iowa work cutture needs to change from the current use and abuse em, replace em later mentality to something that works in modern society. blows my mind anyone would even care to work at curries but i guess stupid people who enjoy being under paid and overworked to essentially produce nothing of any benefit to the everyday citizen of mason city need a shithole to work in.
Wow, sounds like a fired, disgruntled ex-Curries worker here. At least those people are working for a living. pay attention to old city business. A garbage waste burning facility wanted to build a facility about where the tomato plant is going. City fathers shot it down.
Boy, it’s a good thing that mason city refused that casino years ago. Talk about saving the city all those problems. People coming from all over to gamble there. All the money given to schools and other benefits to the county. And we lost all those jobs that we could have used. Ya, people really care about this place growing again. It’s lost people, it continues to lose people, and I am so glad I left this ghost town years ago when I did.
