Mason City man hurt in auto accident near Plymouth

RURAL CERRO GORDO COUNTY – A Mason City man was hurt in an auto accident near Plymouth Wednesday afternoon.

On September 4, 2019 at about 2:45 PM, the Cerro Gordo county sheriff’s office responded to a report of a two-vehicle accident with injuries at 330th Street and Raven Avenue, west of Plymouth. The sheriff’s office says 47-year-old Jay Stump of Plymouth was eastbound on 330th Street in a 2017 Chevy Colorado as 19-year-old Seth Gerber of Northwood was northbound on Raven Avenue in a 2007 Mazda GI when Gerber failed to yield entering the roadway.

As a result of the accident, Stump was transported to Mercy One in Mason City by Mason City Fire Medics with unknown injuries. Gerber was cited for Fail to Yield Right of Way. Both Stump and Gerber were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.

The accident remains under investigation.

The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Plymouth Fire & Rescue, Iowa State Patrol and Mason City Fire Medics
