Iowa Corn Farmers: “We’re fed up with Trump’s broken promises”

Corn

DES MOINES – On Tuesday of this week, at the Iowa Corn Growers Association’s (ICGA) Annual Grassroots Summit, delegates of the Iowa Corn Growers Association and members rallied to express their anger and are calling for the Trump Administration to make it right by following the law and upholding the integrity of the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS).

According to a statement on the agency’s website, President Trump’s promises on the future of ethanol were broken with the approval of 31 unjustified refinery waivers as it kills the demand for corn, and Iowa corn farmers are fed up. On top of the RFS not being upheld, trade wars and uncertain weather from Mother Nature, farmers are seeing the value of their crop continue to fall as harvest approaches. Farmers cannot take any more financial hits because their livelihoods and futures depend on it.

“Agriculture is in one hell of a bad situation right now. The government put us in this situation, and they need to help us get out of it,” stated Vic Miller a corn farmer from Fayette County. “It’s time for President Trump to make rural America and the RFS great again. He made promises to American farmers and now it’s time for him to keep them.”

The ICGA implored readers to “Stand with us and stand up for your farm and family by telling the Trump Administration to stop gutting the RFS and to make it right for corn farmers. We need a solution for the sake of rural America.”

What is corn. It is food. It’s really that simple.

How much Field corn do you eat? I don’t eat any.

People don’t eat field corn. Ethanol does not divert ‘food’ to fuel. This is a false narrative by big oil to protect their near monopoly on our energy supply.

Right because the only crop that can be grown there is field corn. Makes total sense. Not.

well then, why does my gas cap have a circle with a / in RED for 15% ethanol?

What kind of car do you have?

Hey moron, your gas cap says no e85. It does not say no e15. They are not the same blend.

I think trump could lose iowa in 2020 if thing do not change fast for corn growers

arent we all fed up with his broken promises? and lies?

Ah, the millionaire welfare queens are crying their song because they don’t get enough may billions worth of farm subsidies. How terrible of Trump not to keep the Gold Showers going! What is a man supposed to without hundreds of thousands of tax dollars to shower in each year?

MAGA 2020

MAWA 2020: MAKE AMERICA WHITE AGAIN

President Trump is doing what previous administrations didn’t have the balls to do. Stand up and take on the the threat of China. Patriotic Americans are with him 100% !! It’s deal with them now or speak Chinese 50 years from now. Also, ask Sleepy Joe about China and his son taking 1.5 Billion from them to line his own pockets.
Selling out the USA for personal gain.

I do not feel one bit sorry for you farmers! You voted for the idiot and now you are bending over for him! Good luck!

I’ve been burning E85 in my vehicle every day for 2 years and it works great. I change oil every 8,000 miles and it’s not all black like it used to be.

Some cars can run on that low power shit but most won’t run long. Lawn mowers, snow blowers and small engines should never, ever run it. It dry’s out the seals. Also, you mileage is 30% less when running the crap that has no use except to subsidize farmers. Don’t spill it on the ground, ever. It poisons the soil.

False!

Not false. you’re just dumb. everyone knows that fuel is bad news for small engines and most vehicles on the road, hell i drive a two year old car that says do not use e85, wonder why youre smarter than the engineers and techs at the car manufacturing company thats been doing it for over a hundred years? oh, you are not! lol

False!

regular gas is fr more “poisonous” for the soil. in fact, the only thing toxic about E85 is the remaining 15% of dino fuel.

False!

Imbecile

I love it when people who voted for that douchebag Trump are now getting screwed by him. Most people in Iowa vote against their own interests just because they’re religious and racist

President Trump is helping everyone. Nobody is getting screwed! Your Trump derangement syndrome is obvious.

Our farmers will be just fine. They have more money than they know what to do with. They needn’t be so greedy.

It’s high time we took China to task for their corrupt ways.

President Trump is the best President for several decades! You are just jealous.

Kill’em all go Trump!

>Most people in Iowa vote against their own interests
>just because they’re religious and racist

You mean just like how most people in Silicon Value, Chevy Chase and Upper East Side vote against their own interest because of their bigoted elitist hatred towards millions of countrymen not born silver spoon in mouth? You mean like that?

i just LOVE the argument that “white poor people outside the metro areas vote against their own [economic] interest”, because it just can’t get any more elitist than that!

the people who make it are always – and i mean ALWAYS – well educated and well of liberals. the fact that their – democrat – ballot also is a “vote against their own [economic] interest” has never occurred to them. after all, due to their superior intelligence they *understand* that voting left hurts their wallet, but *out*of*the*godness*of*their*hearts they still do it.

the the implicit assumption made here is that if you are white, rural and poor, then you must also be a selfish and unintelligent subhuman with no further concerns than your own immediate fiscal well being. the prospect that these folks too just might have principles important enough to them to take an economic hit for is incomprehensible to the people who make this argument.

The ancient name for corn was maize. It was like a grass back then. Today it is used as filler in many products. Livestock love it. Corn whisky is the best. As a poor substitute for sugar it is found under the dubious name high fructose corn syrup and such. It finds it’s way into a host of products that are sweet and some that are not. It causes obesity in many. It’s global in it’s reach. It’s empire is vast. It’s corn. $$$ Now cut me a slice of that cornbread…drizzled with honey!

Iowa farmers had a bad weather year and will get subsidy checks. blame president for their misfortune. maybe his plans will work eventually. isnt that what people always say when things are positive that it to the credit of the last president and when things are not so great they tend to blame the sitting president never realizes the contradiction they make…

The soil in those fields are saturated with chemicals that no doubt leach into the water table. In order to produce high yields from these depleted fields chemicals must be used. And to think we use this precious resource that is dirt on our wasteful gluttonous energy consumption is outrageous! Without the great flood of the early 90’s that cleansed the soil of all those bad chemicals that came out in the sixties/seventies Iowa would be swimming in a ecological disaster right now. Stick to growing food. The battery is the future sooner than you think.

Support big oil,we don’t need farmers we have Walmart.

Unfortunately, we subsidize big oil and farmers so we can have cheap gas and cheap food. Ethanol and Bio-Diesel using corn and soybeans defeats that notion.

I agree too that Ethanol and Bio-Diesel are not good for our engines.

Unfortunately was a bad choice of words. I should have said, “fortunately”. I like cheap gas!

What makes you believe ethanol and bio diesel are bad for engines?!!? Engineering professionals with car and truck manufacturers seem to universally agree that ethanol and bio diesel cause no ill effects to engines so what makes you feel differently?

try talking to a mechanic. engineers see things on paper and screens and theorize. the rest of us deal with the constant screw ups and over complications of basic items or process. you may get a few extra mpg but youre not doing your car any favors. bio fuel might be good for your brand new car but it isnt the case for most engines. we should be looking at what iowa can produce for bio fuel derived from hemp. it would be a better crop for our environment and economy. its vastly more useful and more efficient fuel can be made from it. as well as lumber and clothing and a million other things.

Where to even start. I will always trust a design professional over a mechanic, every single time on this issue. Car manufacturing engineers agree that ethanol and bio diesel does not harm engines.

You do not get extra MPG’s from ethanol or bio diesel. There is only about 80% of the energy in these fuels vs. gasoline which is why they are priced 20% less. You are doing the atmosphere a tremendous favor by using ethanol though.

Thats why it says on the gas cap of brand new vehicles do not use e85? when is the last time you tore down an engine and had a close look at anything? oh never because youre a pansy boy that probably works in an office and couldnt change his own spark plugs much less have an opinion that carries any weight at all.

using e85 wouldn’t ruin your engine. Your car just wouldn’t run very well with e85 because your engine management system is not set up for that high of an alcohol blend. however, your car is set up to run on up to 15% blends with no problems.

I do think having a 15% mandate on ethanol blend is a reasonable compromise between economy and diversifying our country’s energy portfolio (it’s never good when there exists a monopoly like if we could only use big oil)..

All they do is cry, cry cry. There are other markets to sell to if they want to do it. We have bailed them out with our tax dollars to the tune of billions of dollars. No other industry has has that given to them. The rust belt was just allowed to die when Clinton destroyed it.

I hate renewable fuels made from corn and soybeans. They are terrible for your car engine.

FALSE!

Making fuel out of the food we eat was never a good idea anyways. So start growing hemp instead. Iowa is more or less owned and controlled by corporations from New York. No big surprise here. You want to farm you got to pay the piper. Fallacious thinking by the farmers thinking they are going change that.

How much field corn do you eat? I don’t eat any.

The false narrative that ethanol diverts ‘food’ to fuel was perpetrated by big oil to eliminate competition.

you dont enjoy cereal or a million other products? think general mills has sweet corn fields out there? maybe they got crunch berry bush’s too?

This post can’t be serious, is it?!?!!?! Your breakfast cereal is much more likely to be made from wheat or oats you dullard.

When you finally understand that only 25% (it may not even be this much) of field corn is going towards human consumption, then you can see the laws of supply and demand at work. There isn’t much demand for corn in human food, so ethanol production has a nil effect on human food supply.

right ok halfwit. thats why it says corn cereal on the box of capn crunch and CORN FLAKES go eat a bag of dicks retard.

ahhh yes the corn shine sold on hyvee shelves is probably made from oats and barley. you are the smartest guy ever! please teach us everything else you know, genius. gfys.

So, you think all the field corn that is produced is being used in corn flakes?!?!?? Buddy, we could produce the global supply of field corn for corn flakes cereal on probably 1000 acres. The demand for field corn for human consumption is nil
