Mason City man’s storage locker raided by cops, who find thousands of dollars and suspected meth

MASON CITY – A Mason City man’s storage locker was raided by cops, who found thousands of dollars and suspected methamphetamines.

On August 26, 2019, the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Department with the assistance of the Mason City Police Department and North Central Iowa Narcotics Task Force arrested Mark William Hobbs, age 59, of Mason City on an outstanding warrant. Based on an ongoing investigation, the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Department with the assistance of Mason City Police Department and North Central Iowa Narcotics Task Force executed a search warrant at two storage lockers at 630 6th Street SW in Mason City.

Located during the search was more than a pound of suspected methamphetamine and a large sum of money. The estimated street value of the methamphetamine was more than $20,000. Hobbs was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine with the intent to deliver a class B felony and Failure to affix drug tax stamp a Class D felony.

The case is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Department.
