Northern Iowa woman slams car into front door of convenience store

RUTHVEN, IOWA – A Northern Iowa woman suffered a medical emergency, lost control of her car, and slammed into the front door of a convenience store.

On Saturday, August 3, 2019 at 1:30 PM, the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office investigated a one vehicle accident at 3474 Old Hwy 18, in Ruthven.

A 2009 Pontiac G6, driven by Jeanette C. Lappegard of Spencer, was stopped north of the gas pumps at Lakeland EZ Stop in Ruthven. Lappegard’s vehicle began to travel southeast and struck the front door area of the convience store, before coming to rest inside the store.

Lappegard was transported to Spencer Hospital by Ruthven Ambulance for treatment of a medical issue.

Damage to the Pontiac was estimated at $2,300.00 dollars and damage to the Lakeland is unknown at this time.

The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating this accident.
