IOWA CITY – An Iowa police officer was shot in the face with a bb gun multiple times before shooting a suspected shoplifter.
On Monday, July 29, 2019, at approximately 3:29 PM, officers with the Iowa City Police Department responded to a shoplifting complaint at a business located at 11 Highway 1 West.
A suspect was located in a nearby area, away from the business. As the investigation was unfolding, an Iowa City Police Officer was shot multiple times with a weapon and received injuries to his face. The weapon was later identified as a BB gun. The officer also fired his weapon, striking the suspect. The officer and suspect were each transported to a local hospital and are in stable condition.
The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) is investigating the incident.
Now guess which one of them is going to get in the most legal trouble. HINT: not the idiot with the BB-gun.
The officer is lucky he/she didn’t lose an eye. Hopefully another criminal with no respect for the law is off the street. Unfortunately now the tax payers will have to support the loser.

It sucks that someone got shot in the face buy this moron but in a way im glad it was someone who was doing a job in which they understood and accepted the potential risk because im not willing to get shot in the face for anyone. just wish the officer had the opportunity to place his round in a more vital organ and this piece of shit was doa. seriously. he should have shot him the s3econd he produced what resembled a firearm, his mistake was letting the idiot squeeze of any shots at all. should have smoked him the second he saw a firearm. someone wants to die over 5th degree theft? obviously we need those genes weeded right out of the pool. do criminals not know this is a ccw state and anyone in the store could have smoked him the second he pulled a gun? pointing it at the officer was just this mans smartest move in life, trying to put the rest of us out of his misery. what a loser. hope he has complications in surgery.
