ALBERT LEA, MN — An Albert Lea man was fired from his job and evidently returned to the scene with a shotgun to find his supervisor.
On Tuesday, July 16, 2019, at about 12:53PM, the Albert Lea Police Department responded to 505 Front St W (Lou-Rich) per a terroristic threats concern received via Freeborn County Dispatch. The reporting person stated a male former employee, who had been dismissed from employment that morning, entered the premises with a shotgun intending to threaten a supervisor. The male left the scene prior to officer’s arrival – causing no further harm to employees. Officers located the male at his residence in the 1000 block of Fountain Street W. Officers apprehended 37-year-old Phillip Jonathan Martinez without further harm to himself or others at 3:01PMfee.
Assisting the Albert Lea police department was: Albert Lea Fire Rescue, Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota State Patrol, Department of Natural Resources.
For all the he accomplished if he had taken a nine iron back to work, he wouldn’t be in trouble.

I have never understood how taking a one day class in concealed carry allows a person to carry a firearm. A one day class does not “teach” anything. It introduces a person to the subject. Quiz the graduates in six months and then tell me how much they learned or have retained. It’s not the crazies out there that scare me. It’s the wanna be Rambos and Dirty Harry’s out there who carry a weapon and think they are God.
and i never understood how you should have to sign up for a class or a pistol purchase permit or why you need a concealed carry permit. all these thing;s are unconstitutional and illegal. the state is literally commiting a crime every time they make anyone do any of that. Probably. If i where in this hypothetical a person carrying a legal firearm and a disgruntled man came on scene he came in and threatened someone or a group of people. Pointed a shotgun at someone…. ya PROBABLY. The fact is there are alot of variable’s that effect that situation. I don’t think anyone want’s to shoot someone at least not your average guy. However I think it is a great and fortunate thing that other people are willing to take the personal risk on behalf od the rest of us and im more glad they are regular citizens than cops as citizens are everywhere most of the time and cops are not.
