Albert Lea man takes shotgun back to work after he was fired

ALBERT LEA, MN — An Albert Lea man was fired from his job and evidently returned to the scene with a shotgun to find his supervisor.
On Tuesday, July 16, 2019, at about 12:53PM, the Albert Lea Police Department responded to 505 Front St W (Lou-Rich) per a terroristic threats concern received via Freeborn County Dispatch.  The reporting person stated a male former employee, who had been dismissed from employment that morning, entered the premises with a shotgun intending to threaten a supervisor.  The male left the scene prior to officer’s arrival – causing no further harm to employees.  Officers located the male at his residence in the 1000 block of Fountain Street W.  Officers apprehended 37-year-old Phillip Jonathan Martinez without further harm to himself or others at 3:01PMfee.
Assisting the Albert Lea police department was: Albert Lea Fire Rescue, Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota State Patrol, Department of Natural Resources.
