AMES – A man who joined two others in invading a rural Iowa home and sexually assaulting an 82-year-old woman has been caught by police.
The Story County Sheriff’s Office has taken 18-year-old Jacob Jimenez into custody at approximately 5:25 PM on June 21, 2019. The Story County Sheriff’s Office received information from a confidential informant that Jimenez was at an address in Jewell, Iowa. This information led to a search warrant and his apprehension. Jacob Jimenez has been charged for his involvement in an August 23, 2018 home invasion resulting in the assault of an 82-year-old female in Kelley, Iowa. He is being charged with the following:
– Sexual Abuse in the 1st Degree (Class A Felony)
– Burglary in the 1st Degree (Class B Felony)
– Robbery in the 1st Degree (Class B Felony)
– Willful Injury (Class C Felony)
– Two Counts of Theft in the 2nd Degree (Class D Felony)
– Operating a Motor Vehicle without Owner’s Consent (Aggravated Misdemeanor)
In addition to the above charges, Jacob Jimenez also had a warrant for theft 5th on a separate incident.
Jacob Jimenez is being held in the Story County Jail. According to the Des Moines Register, Jimenez knew the victim as “grandma”. The three broke into her home, sprayed her in the face with a chemical, punched her repeatedly, each sexually assaulted her and tied her to a chair before stealing money.
Luis Cruz, another alleged assailant, was taken in custody by the Eagle Pass Police Department in Texas in May. A third alleged assailant, 22-year-old Manuel Balderas, was arrested earlier this month in Des Moines.
