CEDAR RAPIDS – A woman who provided heroin that contained fentanyl to her cousin and another person causing her cousin’s death was sentenced June 10, 2019, to more than three years in federal prison.
Marvita Roxanna Causey, age 39, from Waterloo, Iowa, received the prison term after a November 20, 2018 guilty plea to distribution of controlled substances.
Court filings show that Causey gave what she believed to be heroin to two individuals, her cousin and another woman. Residue from the leftover heroin showed that the heroin also contained fentanyl. Causey’s cousin was later found dead and Causey agreed that the proximate cause of her cousin’s death was her distribution of heroin and fentanyl.
Causey was sentenced in Cedar Rapids by United States District Court Judge C.J. Williams. Causey was sentenced to 37 months’ imprisonment. She must also serve a 3-year term of supervised release after the prison term. There is no parole in the federal system.
Causey is being held in the United States Marshal’s custody until she can be transported to a federal prison.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Emily K. Nydle and investigated by Waterloo Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

I knew a guy who lived in Rockwell that sold coke and Marijuana, he go busted and got life. After over 22 years they let him out because he was dying, and they didn’t want to mess with his death. That’s justice for you.
dude thats just coke and pot. ya coke is bad news but really its not meth and def. not heroin. 22 yrs for some weed and coke seems pretty outrageous when you consider we have “d-boys” around here that have been popped selling weed 5 times and have violent records. still om the streets everyday doing the same dumb things they have always done. we should just stop wasting time on pot and make it law enforcements focus to deal with powder drugs and pills. those are the things causing all the overdose deaths and violence and theft among other crimes. the point her is this bitch is a murderer and shes getting probation. she deserves her throat opened from ear to ear. the truly scary part is this case shows how corrupt and uncaring our courts are towards the general public. a responsible judge would have ensured this women die in prison. a corrupt judge that doesnt care about anyone or their childrens safety let this person basically get away with murder. the judge should be charged as an accessory to murder next time this pos sells some bad dope.
