Department of Public Safety supports Governor Reynolds’s Veto of law expanded uses of medical Cannabidiol

DES MOINES – The Department of Public Safety supports Governor Reynolds’s decision to veto House File 732, relating to the Medical Cannabidiol Act, the agency said in a statement.

The Department believes that HF 732 has numerous beneficial components that take into account the needs of medical cannabidiol patients while moving the Medical Cannabidiol Program forward.

However, the Department shares the Governor’s concern that HF 732 allows for the potential abuse of the Medical Cannabidiol Program by allowing participants to receive up to 25-grams of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in a 90-day period. This is in contrast to the recommendation from the practitioners on the Medical Cannabidiol Board, who recommend a 4.5 gram limit over 90 days.

Moving forward, the Department looks forward to assisting with legislation that furthers the needs of the Medical Cannabidiol Program while balancing the potential risks of abuse to the community. Although HF 732 does not represent the solution, we are excited to work with the Governor, legislators, and stakeholders to find an outcome that can be successful for Iowans.

the advice from medical practitioners that recommend 4-5 grams for 90 days….. cuz they know how much pain an individual is experiencing, or do they know how each individuals appetite is this particular day? these are bullshit recs. from people who don’t know a thing about dying. why is there even a recommendation for amount of thc in a given period of time. it literally can not be over dosed on. it isn’t damaging to internal organs or any natural body function… maybe the government needs to stay out of peoples lives….

They tried to pull a fast one and sneak in the increase in THC. They got caught and got shot down.

please explain to us why you think that’s “a fast one” you have a reason or do you just not really know very much about the subject don’t have the desire to elevate yourself above this ignorance or are you just plain stupid? its not a sneaky move, nobody is trying to sneak anything past anyone, please really I need you to explain your position to me and why you think thc is evil or bad? I am honestly in awe that a person in 2019 can hold the opinions you do, I want to help you further understand what youre talking about because right now….. it seems as though your happy about this because you are simply a mean person. if you have done all the research non biased sources and you actually hold an understanding of differences in cannabinoids and their effects and you know what forms of thc are what and do what and you’ve spent time talking to terminal patients and you still speak the way you do then ya I guess youre just a dbag. I rather think you have heard a little bit here and a little bit there and you listened really intently in dare and you get your facts from fox news or something. whatever you think your right about and are acting so repugnant over, let me assure you. you are very wrong, misinformed and come off as a callous hateful ineffectual little little man. if youd like to actually discuss engage and learn im willing to help you understand this. I watched a family member struggle with and die from terminal illness. I have done this research extensively and I don’t mind filling in gaps in your knowledge and helping you understand, if anyone wanted higher thc for the purpose of getting high don’t you think they would just come up with a bill for recreational marijuana? also do you really think people need the government to make it legal? im sure there is already highly potent marijuana in iowa and people get it and use it everyday without causing anyone else any trouble, its less socially destructive than alcohol by a huge huge margin. im sorry you don’t seem to understand any of this and like I said im willing to help you learn, you clearly have the internet so there is really zero excuse for you to think feel or speak the way you do on the subject but we can probably get you straightened out unless you literally just enjoy saying juvenile horrible heartless things.

Of course they would support the governor. I am sure the pharmaceutical companies make it very lucrative to keep any other form of medical aid for consumers out of Iowa. Corporate greed and a complete lack of compassion is the driving force behind the prescribed opiates the government and government employees want to keep as the norm. And why should the government tell the truth when it’s so much easier just to lie about it?

well yea, its a conspiracy, opiod pills lead to addiction which leads to heroin for a cheaper and better high but that leads to crime and people having to fill private for profit prisons as well as keeping the cops lawyers prosecuters judges and the rest of our corrupt legal system employed. they are creating victims upon the backs of whom the machine will perpetually roll forward. its sick. our politicians would rather sell poison to keep themselves and their friends rich then they would care for this medicinal plant to help dying people. can you believe this other guy posting? who tried to sneak what in? lol what a paranoid ass. the sheep says bahh seems like he thinks thc is some kind of addictive or deadly substance that evil drug users are trying to “sneak” into cbd oil. someones tinfoil cap is to tight.
