Pet cremation business in Rockwell fined over un-permitted incinerator

ROCKWELL – A pet cremation business in Rockwell has been fined for operating an un-permitted incinerator.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources says Valerie Lillibridge operates a business called Lasting Memories, located at 2276 Quail Avenue in Rockwell, Iowa. The agency has issued an administrative order against Lillibridge, demanding she submit a construction permit application with control, submit a construction permit application with permit limits and stack testing, or cease operation of an incinerator on the premises. She must also pay an administrative penalty in the amount of $3,000.

The administrative order was issued to Lillibridge for continued non-compliance with certain air quality permitting requirements enumerated in the Iowa Administrative Code. Specifically, Lillibridge has continued to violate 567 IAC 22.1 which requires, in part, that no person shall construct, install, reconstruct or alter any air quality emission unit, control equipment, or emission point without first obtaining an air quality construction permit from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR). As such, the DNR is issuing this Order to address the non-compliance.
