MASON CITY – The 39th Annual Cerro Gordo Photo Show, sponsored by the Safford and Lena Lock Photo Endowment Fund, opens on Friday, April 19 in the Charles H. MacNider Art Museum’s Center Space Gallery.
One hundred twenty-four entries were received from residents in Cerro Gordo County and from those attending the spring or summer semesters at North Iowa Area Community College. Forty-six photographs by twenty-eight artists were chosen for exhibition by a panel of judges.
Area residents whose work was chosen for this year’s show are: Ashlyn Buseman of Belmond; Chris Barragy, Linda Hopper, Brad Janson, Julie Pals, Jim Reynolds all of Clear Lake; Lorrie Staudt of Daugherty; Carena Lechuga of Forest City; Shari Brandli, Joshua Brueggeman, Katie Byerly, Alyssa Corell, Hunter Dingman, Carolyn Fletcher, Robert Follmuth, Dean A. Genth, Lisa Grouette, Kyle Lucas, Bruce G. McKee, Amber Olsen, Elli Ruen, Susan Ruen, Paulette Searle, Caitlin Serle, Danelle Stadtlander, Melissa Summerfield and Kristine Urdahl, all of Mason City; Douglas G. Phinney of Ventura.
An opening reception and awards ceremony will be held on Thursday, April 25, starting at 6 p.m. The cash award winners will be announced at 6:30 p.m. $150 will be awarded to the entry selected as Best in Show. For the second award, $100 will be given, and the third award will be $50. Honorable mentions will also be announced.
The 39th Annual Cerro Gordo Photo Show will be open to the public through Saturday, June 29, during regular museum hours. Admission is free of charge, and all are invited to the reception on April 25 to meet the exhibiting artists.
The ‘age ‘ of photography is no longer, It’s photo shoppe. My eight year old can take an average pic and make it spectacular. It has nothing to do with talent only special effect programs.
