Waterloo police charge man with first-degree murder and abuse of corpse

WATERLOO – Waterloo police charged a man serving a prison sentence for robbery with first-degree murder and abuse of corpse

On Wednesday, January 24th, 2018 Waterloo Police received a report that 40-year-old Lakisha (Owens) Williams had not been heard from since January 21st. Officers began to investigate her disappearance and were unable to locate her until January 26th, 2018 when her body was discovered in the back of the Garden of Memories Cemetery. An autopsy later determined Lakisha (Owens) Williams’s cause of death was homicide.

On February 13, 2019 investigators with the Waterloo Police Department obtained warrants for the arrest of Fredrick (no middle name) Williams for Murder in the 1st Degree and Abuse of a Corpse, in connection with the death of Lakisha Williams.

The warrants were served on Fredrick Williams at the Clarinda Correctional Facility where he is currently incarcerated for violating his parole in reference to a robbery charge from 2014.

This investigation remains ongoing and anyone with information regarding this or any other ongoing criminal investigation is asked to contact the Waterloo Police Department.
