MASON CITY – A Mason City unsuccessfully ran from police as a search warrant was executed at a house in connection to a burglary in Manly.
On January 24, 2019 the Worth County Sheriff’s Office took a report of a Burglary in rural Worth County near Manly. At a later date a witness came forward with information on the burglary. The witness said 18-year-old Tirrell Hopkins of Mason City was involved in the burglary.
On February 4, 2019 the Worth County Sheriff’s Office along with the Mason City Police Department executed a search warrant in the 600 block of 13th Street NE in Mason City, at the residence of Hopkins. When officers arrived and made entry to the residence, Hopkins took off on foot. Officers gave chase and the suspect was soon taken into custody in the 700 block of 11th Street NE.
Hopkins is charged with Burglary 3rd Degree and Interference with Official Acts. Records show he has been released from jail.
Hopkins is on probation after a drug charge brought by Mason City police this past summer. He was given a deferred judgement as a more serious felony charge of possession of contraband in a jail was dismissed. He is now facing a probation violation.

I am sorry, that statement is patently false. One look at the Jail Inmate report for today, will show you that of the 61 people incarcerated, there were 5 people held for Burglary, and 9 people held for Theft. All of them were Caucasians.
There were only 5 people who were non-whites inmates in the jail. And only one of them held for a violent crime.

Check it next week. It is sure to be different, and quite often, it has several more blacks than you would expect for such a ‘white town’
Just as a matter of reference, I looked at the FBI’s UCR report for 2017 (the latest I could find).
I did note from that report, there were 154,960 Burglaries in the US. Of that, 67.5% were perpetrated by Caucasians, and 29.8% were by Blacks.
Then, I looked at ‘Violent crime’. The data showed that 58.5% were committed by Caucasians, and 37.5% by Blacks.
I am sure more localized data could be found somewhere, perhaps at the County building.
Now then, some County demographics. There were 43,303 people in Cerro Gordo County, of which 98.9% were citizens. 91.6% were Caucasians, 1.56% were Blacks, and 4.4% were Hispanics.
For you to declare that Blacks commit more crimes than Caucasians, really does not play up to the percentages in this area.
Maybe, it is your paradigm? But as far as facts that I could find, your claim just does not hold up.

I am disgusted by the influx of the families from Detroit and Chicago and other big cities around the midwest, who are coming for free housing, primarily because there are families here in our own communities who are on a waiting list for section 8 housing.
