CLEAR LAKE – Police say “precious heirlooms” were stolen in recent days from the family of Richie Valens in Clear Lake.

On February 3, 2019, the Clear Lake Police Department responded to theft report of two picture collages and one movie poster belonging to the Ritchie Valens’ Family. The family was in town for the Winter Dance Party celebration held over the past weekend at the Surf Ballroom. The items were taken from the Best Western Motor Lodge in Clear Lake on Saturday, February 2nd from a conference room during a family luncheon.

Investigators have been working with the Valens’ Family, the Best Western and the Surf. The items’ return is the primary concern for the family. The items have been described as “precious heirlooms.” The actual value is still being determined.

The family and the police department are seeking the public’s help in this matter. If anyone has information on the whereabouts of the items (pictures attached to the email) please contact the Clear Lake Police Department at 641-357-2186 or at police@cityofclearlake.org.

Why were these “precious heirlooms taken out of the surf ballroom? maybe they should of been better guarded, and taken back to the surf when the gathering was over.

Police say local community depends to heavily on the one time buddy holly played their little town and won’t ever let it go. almost as sad as mason city never letting the sunglass music man thing go. Meredith Wilson made some money and moved cuz he like it here so much. The cold of this place killed buddy holly, it’s a tragedy not a fun thing we should celebrate every year. This area needs some culture, it might help if we had anything current and or relevant to brag about. No the event center isn’t worth telling out of towners about. To them it will be just another empty building on the way through a ghost town of a downtown.

the one thing different with the two places are the surf ballroom makes money for the week they have that event, and the music man square loose money all year long.

You keep wanting people to believe that snoops will tell the truth, when it has been proven over and over that they shade the truth. Only a total Dumb Ass would believe anything snoops says.

You are a liar today, tomorrow and all your sorry life. You have no proof of this unless it came from a whacked out right wing source. You probably also believe the Earth is flat. If you check Snopes, you will find they say it isn’t flat. Same with the moon landing.
