MASON CITY – A woman was hospitalized after a self-inflicted stabbing at the Cerro Gordo courthouse Tuesday morning.
Cerro Gordo county sheriff Kevin Pals tells NIT that deputies were called to Courtroom 2 in the courthouse on February 5, 2019 at 11:09 AM to arrest a 38-year-old female drug court participant for drug court violation.
“The responding deputy approached the person from behind and a friend of the victim ‘yelled she has knife,'” Sheriff Pals explained.
“The female stabbed herself in the stomach/upper leg area, prior to the deputy taking her to the floor.”
The victim was transported to Mercy One – NI, treated for minor stabbing injuries, and released to jail.

It makes those who ‘help’ feel important. It’s actually a psychosis feeling good at ‘helping’ at the detriment of those you think you are helping.
Another drug court graduate. I thought they done away with this boondoggle after the data showed it didn’t work. O. They changed what the definition of success is so they could get more funding. Thus one was mad because she didn’t get cake and balloons at her drug court hearing.

Is there a valid reason law abiding citizens shouldn’t be allowed to carry “weapons” anywhere they go? Knives aren’t weapons guys. In Arizona courthouses, no weapons at all! A knife is a weapon! Everybody goes through a metal detector. Wow.
