WASHINGTON, D.C. – Iowa Congressman Steve King praised Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on his national holiday.

On Monday, America observed Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, as his legacy is one that should live on in America forever fo this achievements in civil rights laws and awareness.

Controversial Congressman Steve King of Iowa’s Fourth District, whose been accused of being a racist, didn’t miss out on the opportunity to offer praise to the fallen civil rights leader. He tweeted on Monday, “Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. gave his all for all. I have long agreed with his speeches and writings. Today I think of this MLK quote, ‘Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.’ May we renew ourselves in his teachings so that he can RIP.”

Reportedly, King did not actually make the statement King tweeted, but some still praised King for acknowledging Dr. King. Others criticized Congressman King, offering advice such as “resign”.
