President Trump delivers the speech
WASHINGTON, D.C. – President Trump offered a plan Saturday to re-open the federal government, a compromise for billions in border security measures in exchange for concessions for DACA recipients.
The following is the plan offered by President Trump to re-open the government:
To every member of Congress: Pass a bill that ends this crisis. To every citizen: Call Congress and tell them to finally, after all of these decades, secure our border. This is a choice between right and wrong, justice and injustice. This is about whether we fulfill our sacred duty to the American citizens we serve.
PRESIDENTIAL LEADERSHIP: President Donald J. Trump is showing strong leadership by working with Congress to find a solution to reopen our government and secure the border.
RESPONSIBLE GOVERNMENT FUNDING: The bipartisan and common sense legislation proposed by President Trump will reopen our government and secure the border.
BIPARTISAN SOLUTION: As part of President Trump’s willingness to compromise to reopen the government, he is proposing to grant provisional status to current DACA and Temporary Protected Status (TPS) recipients.
IMMEDIATE CRISIS: President Trump’s proposal would solve the immediate security and humanitarian crisis at our southern border, but would not solve all of our immigration challenges.
U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA) issued the following statement in support of the President’s plan:
“Hardworking Iowans, and Americans across the country, are sick of government shutdowns and dysfunction in Washington. Americans want their elected officials to work together to solve the toughest problems facing our country – from our border security and immigration challenges to our broken budget and appropriations process.
“Our lack of border security has resulted in a humanitarian crisis with tens of thousands of illegal and inadmissible immigrants on our southern border every month. At the same time, many young, undocumented children were brought here by parents, caretakers, and so forth through no fault of their own. We should show compassion toward these now young men and women and pursue a measured approach that addresses their unique situation, while also respecting our immigration laws and discouraging future illegal immigration.
“I agree with President Trump and many of my colleagues that securing our southern border is a key part of a system to discourage illegal immigration and curb human trafficking and the transport of illegal weapons and drugs – in addition to the ability of gangs and terrorists to exploit the holes in our system.
“We have an opportunity to pass a bipartisan immigration bill. The deal President Trump has put on the table is one that both Democrats and Republicans can support. A bipartisan plan that includes a secure border will not only reopen the government, but also put the wellbeing of American citizens first.”
Democrats rejected President Trump’s plan before it was formally delivered. Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued this statement in advance of the President’s address:

“Democrats were hopeful that the President was finally willing to re-open government and proceed with a much-need discussion to protect the border.“Unfortunately, initial reports make clear that his proposal is a compilation of several previously rejected initiatives, each of which is unacceptable and in total, do not represent a good faith effort to restore certainty to people’s lives. It is unlikely that any one of these provisions alone would pass the House, and taken together, they are a non-starter. For one thing, this proposal does not include the permanent solution for the Dreamers and TPS recipients that our country needs and supports.
“Democrats support smart, effective border security solutions:
– Increased infrastructure investments at our ports of entry including additional ports and roads;
– Advanced technology to scan for drugs, weapons and contraband where the vast majority of drugs come in to our country and advanced technology to detect unauthorized crossings;
– More customs personnel including filling the more than 3,000 customs and border patrol vacancies; and
– More immigration judges.“Next week, Democrats will pass a package of six bills agreed to by House and Senate negotiators and other legislation to re-open government so that we can fully negotiate on border security proposals.
“The President must sign these bills to re-open government immediately and stop holding the American people hostage with this senseless shutdown. Each day he prolongs this needless crisis, Coast Guardsmen, FBI agents, border patrol officers, TSA agents, and hundreds of thousands more workers are forced to live without knowing how they can feed their families or pay their bills.
“The President has taken pride in shutting down government. Now, he must take action to open up government.”
Sunday, President Trump fired back at Speaker Pelosi, saying, “Nancy Pelosi and some of the Democrats turned down my offer yesterday before I even got up to speak. They don’t see crime & drugs, they only see 2020 – which they are not going to win.”

Amazing that a 78 years old lady and politician is receiving a salary to direct lawmakers in the creation of bills towards improvement of the American people. She has the responsibility to help our president to secure and protect our country, however she seems to be absorbed by helping illegals versus us, the citizens of this country based on hateful politics and the resentment that he was able in a short period of time reverse our economy and the creation of jobs versus keeping the poor living out of the welfare system. She is evil and we, the American people have the right to demand for her removal. She is destructive, revengeful, obstructionist and more importantly, anti-American.

Think back honestly on how many of your Trump predictions have been accurate. The key word here is ‘honestly’. But, don’t despair because you have lots of company. President Donald Trump is the most underestimated man in the world right now.
