New charges filed in connection to violent robbery; two more teens implicated

MASON CITY – Mason City police announced Friday that they have arrested a second teen in connection with a violent robbery that took place in recent days and anthers wanted on felony charges.

Mason City say that on December 27, 2018 at 11:38 PM, officers responded to the 800 block of 8th Street N.E. on a report that up to three males forced their way into the home. One suspect held an adult female resident down while the other suspects stole items from the home. The victim, who was alone, was strangled by her attacker and lost consciousness. She was also threatened that she would be stabbed. The victim did not seek medical attention at that time.

On January 3, 2019, officers executed search warrants on a vehicle located in the 500 block of North Washington Avenue and a residence in the Zero block of South Adams Avenue in connection with the robbery. Joseph Ryan Jaskiel, age 16, was arrested during the search warrant at the South Adams location and was charged with Robbery in the first degree, a class B felony. He is currently in custody at the Cerro Gordo County Jail.

Friday, the MCPD announced that charges have been filed on two additional defendants believed to be involved in the robbery.
Thursday night, a 15-year-old male was taken into custody and charged with 1st degree robbery. He is now in the custody of juvenile court services. Friday, an arrest warrant was issued for 17-year-old Camden Michael Nicholson for 1st degree robbery. Nicholson is believed to be out of state.
