MASON CITY – A caller phoned in a possible dangerous drunk driver, leading to the arrest and a felony charge against a North Iowa man.
A driver was traveling east toward Mason City from Clear Lake at around 1:30 AM January 1, 2019, behind another vehicle. As they approached Mason City, the trailing driver called police on the vehicle in front for possible erratic driving. A Mason City police officer happened to be right in the area and immediately found the vehicle, Chief Jeff Brinkley tells NIT. Based on the officer’s observations, 33-year-old Nathan Charles Glidden of Ventura was arrested and charged with Operating While Intoxicated, 3rd or Subsequent Offense – a felony.
Glidden was taken to and remains held at the Cerro Gordo County Jail, awaiting further court proceedings. He was charged with felony drunk driving by Clear Lake police back in 2013, but pled guilty to second-offense drunk driving instead. He paid over $10,000 in fines and court fees.
